bzw. in den "neuen" Konkurrenten HYGS (588386) tauschen !?
Nach dem Engagement von General Motors in HYGS scheint eine neue Konkurrenz für Ballard zu erwachsen:
On Tuesday night, Hydrogenics, a Canadian designer and maker of fuel-cell systems for clean power generation, announced that it had struck a deal with General Motors (NYSE:GM - news) to develop and market fuel-cell technologies. The deal gives GM a 28% stake in Hydrogenics (including stock and warrants, if exercised), as well as access to Hydrogenics` proton-exchange membrane, or PEM, technology.
For Hydrogenics, the benefits are a bit less straightforward, since financial terms weren`t disclosed. (Indeed, the deal is believed to be cashless.) This much is known: The profitless Hydrogenics, which competes with the more established B a l l a r d Power Systems (NASDAQ:BLDP - news), will benefit from the cachet of an alliance with GM, and will get access to GM`s more-advanced fuel-cell technologies. And since Ballard has already struck similar arrangements with Ford Motor (NYSE:F - news) and DaimlerChrysler (NYSECX - news), the deal certainly enhances Hydrogenics` competitive position.
