Erfolgreiches drittes Quartal:
MAXDATA steigert operatives Ergebnis um 25,8%
- Umsatz wächst um 22,8% auf 470 Mio. DM
- Überproportionaler Anstieg des EBIT im kommenden Jahr erwartet
Marl, 18. Oktober 1999. Der überaus erfreuliche Geschäftsverlauf im dritten
Quartal 1999 schlug sich bei der MAXDATA AG, Marl, in einem deutlichen Anstieg
von Umsatz und operativem Ergebnis nieder. Der führende Hersteller von Computer-
monitoren in Europa und viertgrößte Produzent von Personalcomputern, Servern und
Notebooks in Deutschland steigerte den Umsatz im Vergleich zum Vorjahresquartal
um 22,8% auf 470 Mio. DM (Vj. 383). In den ersten neun Monaten des laufenden Ge-
schäftsjahres erzielte der Konzern somit Gesamterlöse von 1.532 Mio. DM (Vj.
1.180). Dies entspricht einem Zuwachs von 29,8%.
Im Vergleich zum Vorjahresquartal verzeichnete MAXDATA auch einen erheblichen
Ergebnisanstieg. So legte das operative Ergebnis (EBIT) im Zeitraum vom 1. Juli
bis 30. September 1999 um 25,8% auf 26,4 Mio. DM (Vj. 21,0) zu. Übertroffen
wurde dies noch durch die Steigerung des Brutto-Betriebsergebnisses (EBT)
um 36,0% von 19,9 Mio. DM auf 27,1 Mio. DM. "Durch unsere ausgezeichnete
Markt-
position haben wir von der seit Juli deutlich anziehenden Nachfrage nach
Computern und Monitoren in hohem Maße profitiert", erläuterte Holger Lampatz,
Vorsitzender des Vorstands der MAXDATA AG. "Unsere klare Strategie, die optimal
auf die Bedürfnisse von Business-Kunden ausgerichtet ist, hat dabei entscheidend
zur guten Ergebnisentwicklung beigetragen."
Lampatz rechnet auch im vierten Quartal mit einer weiteren Belebung der Nach-
frage und einem entsprechend positiven Geschäftsverlauf. Der Vorstand der
MAXDATA AG erwartet daher für das Gesamtjahr 1999 ein operatives Ergebnis von
mehr als 100 Mio. DM. Der Umsatz wird voraussichtlich auf mindestens
2.150 Mio. DM steigen.
Überproportionales EBIT-Wachstum im Geschäftsjahr 2000 erwartet
Auch im kommenden Geschäftsjahr will MAXDATA erheblich stärker wachsen als der
Markt. Der Vorstand erwartet im Jahr 2000 ein Umsatzwachstum von mehr als 20%.
Gleichzeitig soll das operative Ergebnis überproportional auf 130 Mio. DM bis
145 Mio. DM steigen. Zu dieser positiven Entwicklung werden unter anderem der
weitere Ausbau des MAXDATA-Online-Shop-Systems sowie bestehende und neue
strategische Partnerschaften im Großkundensegment einen wesentlichen Beitrag
leisten. Vor kurzem vereinbarte MAXDATA eine strategische Kooperation mit der
m+s Elektronik AG, Niedernberg.

Successful third quarter:
MAXDATA increases net operating result by 25.8%
- Revenues grow by 22.8% to 470 million DM
- Over-proportional increase in EBIT expected in the coming year
Marl, 18th October 1999. The extremely encouraging course of business in the
third quarter of 1999 was reflected at MAXDATA AG, Marl, in a significant
increase in revenues and in its net operating result. The leading manufacturer
of computer monitors in Europe and the fourth largest manufacturer of personal
computers, servers and notebooks in Germany increased its revenues by 22.8%
in comparison with the same quarter in the previous year up to 470 million DM
(1998: 383 million DM). This means that in the first nine months of the current
financial year, the group has achieved a total revenue of 1.532 billion DM
(1998: 1.180 billion DM). This is the equivalent of a growth of 29.8%.
In comparison to the same quarter in the previous year, MAXDATA also recorded
a considerable growth in profit. Consequently the net operating result (EBIT)
in the period from 1st July to 30th September 1999 went up by 25.8% to
26.4 million DM (1998: 21.0 million DM). But even this was surpassed by the
increase in the gross operating result (EBT) of 36.0% from 19.9 million DM up
to 27.1 million DM. "As a result of our excellent market position we have
largely benefitted from the significant increase in demand for computers and
monitors since July," explained Holger Lampatz, CEO of MAXDATA AG. "In doing
so, our well-defined strategy, which is perfectly designed to meet the
requirements of our business customers, made a crucial contribution to the
good growth in profits."
Lampatz also anticipates a further increase in demand and a corresponding
upturn in the course of business in the fourth quarter. The managing board at
MAXDATA AG is therefore expecting a net operating result in excess of 100
million DM for the whole of 1999. Revenues are expected to increase to at
least 2.150 billion DM.
Over-proportional growth in EBIT expected in financial year 2000
MAXDATA intends to grow at a rate considerably in excess of that of the market
in the coming financial year too. The managing board is expecting revenues to
grow by more than 20% in the year 2000. At the same time the net operating
result should increase over-proportionally up to 130 million DM to 145
million DM. The continual expansion of the MAXDATA-Online-Shop-System as
well as existing and new strategic partnerships in the large customer sector
will make an important contribution to this growth. Recently MAXDATA entered
a strategic alliance with m+s Elektronik AG, Niedernberg.
MAXDATA AG will publish detailed figures on the third quarter of 1999 in a
press release on the 27th October 1999.
