Nasdaq Announces Annual Re-ranking of Nasdaq-100
Index Has Outperformed Every Major U.S. Stock Index for the 10 Year Period Beginning December 1991
NEW YORK, Dec. 17 /PRNewswire/ -- The Nasdaq Stock Market announced today the annual re-ranking of the Nasdaq-100 Index®, effective with the market open on Monday, December 24, 2001.

The following 13 issues will be added to the Nasdaq-100 Index: ImClone Systems Incorporated (Nasdaq: IMCL - news), Charter Communications, Inc. (Nasdaq: CHTR - news), CDW Computer Centers, Inc. (Nasdaq: CDWC - news), Symantec Corporation (Nasdaq: SYMC - news), Sepracor Inc. (Nasdaq: SEPR - news), Invitrogen Corporation (Nasdaq: IVGN - news), Express Scripts, Inc. (Nasdaq: ESRX - news), Cephalon, Inc. (Nasdaq: CEPH - news), ICOS Corporation (Nasdaq: ICOS - news), Cytyc Corporation (Nasdaq: CYTC - news), Protein Design Labs, Inc. (Nasdaq: PDLI - news), Integrated Device Technology, Inc. (Nasdaq: IDTI - news) and Synopsys, Inc. (Nasdaq: SNPS - news). ....

für die Firmen, die rausfliegen, aber sehr gut für den Index. Sind ja einige bekannte Namen dabei: BVSN (war mal mit extrem hohen Prozentsatz im NM50 gewichtet!!), ARBA, CMGI, usw. Das liest sich wie das Who-is-Who des Internetsektors!

Kein Wunder, dass der Index die allermeisten Fonds schlägt wenn er so "aktiv gemanagt" wird!

Leider werden die Werte die rausfliegen jetzt schon fallen solange sie noch im Index vertreten sind (alleine schon weil sie rausfallen und dadurch weniger Beachtung finden werden). Die neu hinzugekommenen dürften sich wohl weit besser entwickeln. Schade, der Index in der ursprünglichen Zusammensetzung grade in dieser schwierigen Phase (auf der unteren Trendlinie) einen kleinen Dämpfer bekommen wird.
