The Long Case for Avalon Rare Metals

Rare Earth Elements or REEs seem to be the newest big mover on Wall Street. Although most have heard of them, they do not know what their use is. The best way to identify them is by going back to chemistry class and looking at a periodic table. Here is an easier introduction.

Avalon Rare Metals Inc. (AVL) has seen a large appreciation of market cap over the past year, but this may just be the beginning. Avalon has a well diversified set of rare earth holdings. All of their projects are 100% owned.

If investing in the rare earths, Avalon is attractive from two standpoints. The company has a very high concentration of heavy rare earths. Since these are more scarce price increases will be more likely here. Secondly, it seems to be a value when compared to REEs in the ground. I think any of the names mentioned here are a good trade, until the current trade ends.

Avalon Rare Metals (AVL) Enters Into Negotiation Agreement With the Deninu K'ue First Nation

Avalon Rare Metals Inc. (NYSE Amex: AVL) announces that, following the signing of the Negotiation Agreement with the Yellowknives Dene First Nation (News Release No. 10-27 December 8, 2010), Avalon has now entered into a similar agreement with the Deninu K'ue First Nation ("Deninu K'ue") regarding the development of the Nechalacho rare earth elements deposit Thor Lake, NWT (the "Project").

The Deninu K'ue community resides at Fort Resolution, 120 kilometres southwest of Thor Lake. The proposed site for the Project hydrometallurgical processing plant, currently planned for the Pine Point area approximately 45 kilometres west of the community, lies within Deninu K'ue traditional territory.

TORONTO, Feb 17 (Reuters) - Shares of Avalon Rare Metals were up more than 9 percent early on Thursday afternoon after Mackie Research initiated coverage on the rare earth exploration company with a 'speculative buy' rating.

Mackie Research analyst Matt Gowing said he sees Avalon as undervalued and set a C$10.50 target price for its shares.

They hit a year high of C$8.29 on the Toronto Stock Exchange on Thursday before retreating to C$8.11. They have risen more than 140 percent in the past six months.

The Toronto-based company is developing the Nechalacho rare earth project, also known as Thor Lake, in Canada's Northwest Territories.

"An American stockpile would mean higher prices on more demand but a lack of one could also support prices on fears of supply shortfalls. Nervousness about China’s export policies has already pushed importers Japan and South Korea to stockpile the metals."

That sounds pretty damn bullish for REE stocks ... The U.S may start contracting with REE companies.

Who has the largest Deposit potential? 7-Apr-11 08:35 am I've read a few reports and it seems there are conflicting claims about which deposit site in North america is the largest. Are there different advantages to one or the other like Purity etc. In one report by the government they say Thor Lake is the largest potential then in another its Bear Lodge. Is there a clear cut leader with the highest potential? Not necessarily producing today but potential for scale...Thanks for the input. Rating :

Es gäbe derzeit Basher Artikel (in Seeking Alpha usw), welche empfehlen AVL zu verkaufen. Der Maildienst "Wealth Daily" ist da ganz anderer Meinung

AVL goes on to say, "In order to achieve its objectives, the Company expects it will be required to spend its existing working capital and raise additional funds as required."
That's not the kind of business model I want to invest in, especially when the stock is trading near record highs and with a market cap value of about $900 million.
But you'd be a fool to ignore AVL shares under $10...

bis Ende dieses Jahres stehen ?

Die Aktie ist nach ihrem Höchstand von € 6,85 am 08.04.2011 auf € 4,05 am 13.06.2011 gefallen. Das bedeutet einen Rückgang von ca. 41%. Orientiere ich mich jetzt an den Schlusskurs von CAD 5,75 an der TSX vom 13.06.2011 ist abzusehen, das die Aktie im heutigen Handel, 14.06.2011,  an den deutschen Boersen um mindestens auf  €3,75 nachgeben wird. REM Aktien sind von einer hohen Votalität gekennzeichnet. Eine treffende Aussage, wo die Aktie Ende des Jahres stehen wird, wäre unseriös. Der Boden ist m.E. noch nicht erreicht. Meine Empfehlung: watch&wait .Gruß

ich hatte schon vor monaten zu dem thema geschrieben hier in diesem forum geschrieben - wo rrm noch jungfreulich auf 3 euro stand.
