Minerals Technologies Names Thomas Stam To Head Construction Technologies Business Segment

NEW YORK, August 24, 2016-Minerals Technologies Inc., (NYSE: MTX) announced today that it has named Thomas Stam Vice President, MTI & Managing Director of the Construction Technologies business segment. Mr. Stam, whose most recent position was Senior Vice President of Building Materials and Environment Products, within the Construction Technologies segment, will succeed Patrick Carpenter, who is leaving the company to pursue other interests.

Mr. Stam will report to Joseph C. Muscari, Chairman and Chief Executive of Minerals Technologies. Construction Technologies, which operates as CETCO®, is an industry-leading provider for commercial, industrial and infrastructure construction projects worldwide, and consists of Building Materials & Other Products and Environmental Products. The Environmental Products Group is the world-leading supplier of Geosynthetic Clay Liners for industrial, hazardous and municipal solid-waste landfills, mining sites, and for containment of challenging residues such as coal ash from coal-fired electrical generation and red mud from alumina processing. The business segment had annual revenues of $180.1 million in 2015.

Mr. Stam joined the company in 1989 as a regional sales manager. He left what was then American Colloid Company in 1995, but returned as Director, Business Development, in 2002, after serving seven years in project management for a subsidiary of Waste Management. In 2005, he was promoted to Group Manager, North America, Building Materials, Construction Technologies. He became Vice President, Building Materials, Construction Technologies, in 2011, and he assumed the position of Senior Vice President, Building Materials and Environmental Products for the business unit in February 2016.

Mr. Stam holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Geology from Eastern Illinois University.
