NEW YORK, May 8, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- ON Semiconductor Corporation (NASDAQ: ONNN) is a global supplier of analog, digital signal processing, mixed signal, advanced logic, data management semiconductors, memory and standard semiconductor components, and integrated circuits (ICs). The company designs, manufactures, and markets a portfolio of semiconductor components that address the design needs of electronic systems and products. The company is divided into three reporting segments: the Application Products Group, the Standard Products Group, and the Systems Solutions Group.
The company serves a broad base of end-user markets, including automotive, communications, computing, consumer electronics, medical, industrial, smart grid and military/aerospace. Their devices are found in a wide variety of end-products including automotive electronics, smartphones, media tablets, wearable electronics, computers, servers, industrial building and home automation systems, consumer white goods, LED lighting, power supplies, networking and telecom equipment, medical diagnostics, imaging and hearing health, and sensor networks.
According to the World Semiconductor Trade Statistics (WSTS), worldwide semiconductor industry sales were $305.6 billion in 2013, which represented an increase of almost 5% from 2012. This increase is mostly related to the improvement in global macroeconomic conditions within the semiconductor industry. Nearly one-third of total sales are within ONNN's service addressable market (SAM), which is expected to grow at a CAGR of approximately 3.5% for the next three years.
