KONE to modernize Riverside Centre, a high-profile office building in Brisbane, Australia

KONE, a global leader in the elevator and escalator industry, has been selected by GPT Group as its key modernization partner at Riverside Centre, a high-rise office building in Brisbane, Australia. As part of the building's extensive upgrade project, KONE will be brought in to modernize the business hub's 21 elevators as well as to introduce a new destination control system. These solutions will support the building's green credentials and result in optimal people flow.

Standing at 146m and comprising 40 floors, Riverside Centre houses local and international businesses, entertainment facilities as well as fine-dining restaurants and cafes. The upgraded building will incorporate the latest in elevator technology. KONE's advanced destination control system will ensure an optimal passenger experience by using information about desired destination floors and the number of waiting passengers, contributing to increased handling capacity and reduced journey times. KONE's modernization solutions will also include high-efficiency KONE EcoDisc® hoisting machines and regenerative drives that boost sustainability through reduced energy use.

The awarded construction design of Riverside Centre is the work of Harry Seidler, an icon of Australian architecture.

The order was booked in the first quarter of 2015.
