"We are honored to be recognized for bringing consumer-focused innovation to our products, simplifying the lives of our customers," said Mike Heim, Corporate Vice President and Global Chief Information Officer at Whirlpool Corporation. "With a quickly expanding portfolio of connected products, we saw the need for a secure technology platform solution that could keep pace with innovating for what really matters in day-to-day life, allowing consumers to personalize their in-home experience in a way that helps them care for their families. We are proud of this project and the team behind it."

The Digital Edge 50 Awards, distributed by IDG Enterprise and CIO Magazine, honor companies that have leveraged digital technologies to achieve innovation for their business. Selected by a panel of industry experts and business and technology executives, winners demonstrate greater customer engagement, higher sales conversions and new products, as well as revenue and profit growth.

As the number one major appliance manufacturer in the world, Whirlpool Corporation is focused on innovating to provide better care through smart and connected appliances and services.  From leveraging over the air automatic updates to microwave ovens that cook based on information provided via the barcode on a packaged food item, the Internet of Things has introduced a new digital dimension to the company's traditional home care products.

Whirlpool Corporation will be formally honored as a recipient of this award at IDG's AGENDA18 Conference, taking place March 19-21, 2018 in Miami.
