VWR Employees Participate in Annual Fun Run & 1-Mile Walk to Make a Difference

RADNOR, Pa., Sept. 29, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- VWR (NASDAQ: VWR), the leading global independent provider of product and service solutions to laboratory and production customers, hosted the 4th Annual VWR Fun Run & 1-Mile Walk at its headquarters in Radnor, PA, for employees and their families on Wednesday, September 14th.  VWR was joined by employees from neighboring companies, GeoBlue and Preferred Sands.  Together, the event drew over 300 participants.

VWR strives to increase participation in this event each year to promote wellness and healthy living among its employees and their families.  Employees were further encouraged to participate in this year's event by the VWR Foundation's pledge to make a donation based on the number of VWR participants. In honor of the 200 VWR employees who participated, the VWR Foundation donated $10,500 to the American Lung Association (ALA) of the Mid-Atlantic.

Christy Dernlan, Development Director of the American Lung Association in Pennsylvania, commented, "Thank you to the VWR Foundation for its incredibly generous donation. We were thrilled to be a part of VWR's 5K and witness the wonderful employee engagement. You are obviously doing great things for employee wellness and morale at VWR." Christy attended the event and was presented with a large check for the Foundation's donation.

The annual race was started by VWR in 2013 and participation continues to grow each year. The 5K course is three loops around the Radnor Corporate Center campus and the walk is one loop. In addition, local vendors were invited to promote other healthy living options.
