RADNOR, Pa., Jan. 31, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- VWR (NASDAQ: VWR), the leading global independent provider of product and service solutions to laboratory and production customers, was proud to organize a product donation at its recent American Sales Conference for Village Tech Schools, a Texas-based, public charter school focusing on hands-on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) education for Pre-K through 11th grade.  Village Tech does this by breaking down walls between traditional topics and instruction to deliver an innovative approach to STEM curriculum to its students.

"It is important for us to support these students as a way to help spark their interest in science," said Mark McLoughlin, VWR's SVP and President, Americas Lab and Distribution Services. "By doing this, we hope to build the next generation of scientists. VWR and its suppliers are proud to make a difference in Texas."

"In an environment where creativity and exploration are essential to the way we approach curriculum and education, the donation from VWR and its suppliers serves as a tool for children's hands and minds to meet discovery and design," shared Elizabeth Podany, Village Tech Schools Curriculum & Innovation Director.

As part of its American Sales Conference, VWR invites a number of its suppliers to help educate its Sales team on key product information and updates.  At the conclusion of the event, VWR and a number of the participating suppliers provided products valued at more than $33,000 that will be used for STEM programs at Village Tech Schools.

A big thank you to the contributing suppliers:  BioFit, Boekel Scientific, Burkle North America Inc., Corning Inc., Horizon Scientific, Inc., Kewaunee Scientific Corporation, Labcon, New Pig, Simport Scientific, Thermo Fisher Scientific and Troemner LLC.  Together, VWR and its suppliers were able to make a generous donation of glassware, plasticware, lab stools, storage drums, lab grade refrigerators, countertops and lab benches to help these students pursue scientific endeavors.
