CHICAGO, March 13, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Drones are proving to be extremely useful on the construction site, but they don't come without new and unique risks according to CNA.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has estimated that 7,500 small commercial drones will be in use by 2018. "A percentage of those drones will be utilized on construction sites – from pre-construction planning to daily management of the work site, but pilot error, misdirected landings, GPS failure and interference with overhead transmission lines pose significant risks from drone use," said Mike Ahern, Assistant Vice President, Underwriting for Construction, CNA.
Construction professionals should embrace new technologies and not fear the uncertainty of risk, but they should always remember to understand the use of drones and control them responsibly.
