ShoreTel Connect Improves Communications Reliability for Orion Township

SUNNYVALE, Calif., June 29, 2017

In Orion Township, the Supervisor's Office oversees multiple operating agencies that are critical to the everyday needs of local citizens, such as the Police and Fire Departments, Department of Public Works, Parks and Recreation Departments, Senior Services and Township Hall.

After experiencing a major service outage with their legacy phone provider, Orion Township chose to implement ShoreTel's Connect Unified Communications as a Service (UCaaS) solution to ensure reliable communications between township employees and constituents.

"As a government office, we're accountable to the township's citizens which means a reliable phone system is essential," said Chris Barnett, Orion Township supervisor. "ShoreTel Connect has not only been dependable but its modern features have increased our employees' efficiency so that projects move faster and constituents are better served. Plus, we've seen a meaningful cost savings compared to our previous phone system, which will allow us to fund several new community projects."

In addition to more reliable communications, Connect CLOUD's complete UC feature set has enabled the Orion Township Supervisor's Office and its employees to be more agile in managing community operations and serving the town's stakeholders.

Whereas their previous phone system had limited functionality, Connect CLOUD provides rich capabilities such as collaboration tools, conferencing and native integration with Microsoft Outlook. Connect's iOS and Android mobile applications also make it convenient for township employees, who are often in the field, to interact with each other and members of the community regardless of their location.
