PR Newswire

WATERLOO, Ontario, Oct. 29, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- RDM Corporation (TSX:RC), a leading provider of specialized hardware and software products for electronic payment processing, will be introducing the new EC9000i® check scanner series at booth 7028, November 5-7 at BAI Retail Delivery. With speeds up to 90 documents per minute and an optional receipt printer, the scanners are designed to simplify auto-feed and single-feed scanning. Further, an enhanced developer-friendly API allows for greater functionality and increased flexibility.

The new EC9000i series enables users to process any combination of checks and remittances along with ID capture and check defacement on a single peripheral device. The scanners' vertical feed transport virtually eliminates skewing and jamming.  In addition, a built-in ID card imager enables high-resolution capture of identification cards such as driver's licenses. The EC9000i scanners can be customized to provide additional options including endorsement, receipt printing, integrated magnetic stripe reader (MSR) to capture card data, and OCR A&B font recognition. The series has been developed to meet the needs of a variety of businesses including financial institutions (teller counter and treasury), financial service centers, small retailers, health care offices, property management companies and government entities.

One of the most noticeable differences of the EC9000i series from other check scanners on the market is the affordable functionality. "During our research, we discovered that 75 percent of the market processes 30 documents or less in a single batch. Most check scanners provide a higher capacity than users require," explained Bill Buser, Director of Scanner Solutions at RDM Corporation. "We scaled the capacity in exchange for features that users truly value, at a more affordable price. A good example of this is the ability to use one device to scan a personal ID with either a check or card payment and provide a receipt."
