PR Newswire

SAN JOSE, Calif., Sept. 19, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Oclaro, Inc. (NASDAQ: OCLR), a leading provider and innovator of optical communications solutions, today announced its ECOC 2016 product line-up of components and modules designed to deliver increased performance, smaller form factors, higher-density, and lower power dissipation.  At ECOC, Oclaro will be featuring a live demo of a 400GBASE-LR8 CFP8 transceiver, Oclaro's industry leading CFP2-ACO, and a full portfolio of 100G component and module solutions. The Oclaro products are driving the industry's transition to higher-speed networks demanded by data center and telecommunications providers.  These solutions will be on display at this week's ECOC 2016 show at the Congress Center in Dusseldorf, Germany in the Oclaro booth #384.

"The explosive growth in applications such as video services, smart phones and cloud-based software solutions is driving the need for high network speeds to meet the growing bandwidth demands for data-intensive applications," said Adam Carter, Chief Commercial Officer at Oclaro. "Our ECOC line-up demonstrates our advancement and leadership in speeds of 100G and beyond, integrated small form factors, photonic devices, and indium phosphide technology, which are delivering the speed, power consumption and size required for these services."

About the CFP8 Transceiver

Featuring a small 40mm x 102mm x 9.5mm form factor, the new CFP8 module delivers four times more bandwidth than existing 100G solutions, enabling Oclaro to meet the industry's explosive demand for higher data rates between router and transport 400G client side interfaces in core networks. The CFP8 leverages Oclaro's proven technology from its earlier CFP, CFP2 and CFP4 designs to ensure high quality and high performance. This includes its best-in-class cooled 1310nm 28Gbps EA-DFB laser technology, and 28Gbps 4ch integrated PIN-PD array. Additional features of the Oclaro CFP8 transceiver include the following:

  • Compliant with 400GBASE-LR8 optical and CDAIU-16 electrical interface specifications that are under final standardization process by the IEEE 802.3bs task force;
  • Fully integrated 8l x 53.125Gbit/s optical transceiver module modulated using 4-level pulse amplitude modulation (PAM4) format;
  • Consists of 1310nm wavelength EA-DFB LDs, Driver ICs, PIN photo-diodes, Trans Impedance Amplifier (TIA) ICs, Optical Multiplexer/De-Multiplexer and a PAM4 to NRZ encoder/De-coder and SERDES integrated DSP IC with a 16 channel x 26.5625Gbit/s electrical interface;
  • Conforms to CFP8 hardware specifications for mechanical dimensions, connectors and footprint; and
  • Features power supply voltage of +3.3V and is hot pluggable in Z-direction by a 124-pin connector.

About the CFP2-ACO

Already shipping in thousands of units, the Oclaro CFP2-ACO represents a major milestone in the acceptance of the coherent CFP2-ACO form factor. Compared to conventional solutions, the coherent CFP2-ACO module features an unprecedented small form factor to enable increased density at the faceplate, reduced power dissipation, and optimal optical performance. In addition, the CFP2 pluggable form factor enables customers to minimize first installation costs and maintain flexibility to scale their networks over time by adding more capacity as needed.  As a result, the Oclaro CFP2-ACO technology enables customers to achieve the higher-density, lower cost, and lower power dissipation needed for next generation 100G and 200G coherent networks.
