PR Newswire

NEW YORK, Nov. 4, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- New York & Company (NYSE: NWY), a specialty apparel retailer of women's fashion, announced today that it has once again partnered with St. Jude Children's Research Hospital for the annual St. Jude Thanks and Giving ® campaign, an unprecedented union of celebrities, media, retail and corporate brands, that asks consumers to donate while they shop during the holiday season and join St. Jude in finding cures and saving children. This is the sixth year that New York & Company has participated in the campaign.

St. Jude is leading the way the world understands, treats, and defeats childhood cancer and other deadly diseases. Created by Marlo, Terre and Tony Thomas – children of St. Jude founder Danny Thomas – the St. Jude Thanks and Giving ® campaign began as a holiday-focused fundraising effort and has grown into an annual tradition that has raised more than $387 million for research and treatment in the ongoing battle to end childhood cancer. Kicking off Thanksgiving week and running through the end of December, this year marks its 10th anniversary of asking the public to, "Give thanks for the healthy kids in your life, and give to those who are not."

Greg Scott, New York & Company's CEO, stated, "We are very proud to continue our partnership with St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and help raise funds to support its mission to find cures for children with cancer and other catastrophic diseases.  Our campaign slogan – Some Gifts Count More Than Others – is personified by the passion and dedication of our associates to this important cause.  Not only are our associates committed, so too are our loyal customers who visit our stores and choose to make a donation to the campaign.  These generous acts of kindness demonstrate what the holiday season is all about."

"The incredible support we receive from New York & Company and their loyal customers during the St. Jude Thanks and Giving ® campaign is critical in our fight to end childhood cancer," said Marlo Thomas, national outreach director for St. Jude. "St. Jude is where doctors send some of their toughest cases because we have the world's best survival rates and New York & Company's commitment helps us continue that lifesaving work while staying true to my father's founding promise that families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food – because all a family should have to worry about is helping their child live."

Beginning November 3rd through January 4, 2014, customers who shop with New York & Company may donate any amount to St. Jude this holiday shopping season.  To-date, New York & Company has raised more than $10 million for St. Jude which equates to the cost of running the hospital for five days.  Each year New York & Company has surpassed its goals and believes this year won't be any different.   New York & Company is also a National Platinum Sponsor of the St. Jude Give thanks. Walk.TM  for the fourth consecutive year. On Saturday November 23rd, thousands of St. Jude supporters across the country will participate in this exciting, family friendly 5K walk to raise money for the children of St. Jude.  New York & Company expects to have associates at over 60 of the walks. Additionally, for the first time ever New York & Company will host a sample sale in its corporate offices for all its field associates, with all proceeds donated to St. Jude.

Kevin Finnegan, EVP of Global Sales for New York & Company, commented, "This is our sixth year of partnership with St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. The excitement and motivation is stronger than ever because of the amazing work being done at St. Jude. It is an honor and a privilege to have an opportunity to make a difference in the lives of the families of St. Jude."
