Property management firm uses regular one-on-one meetings to keep employees aligned and engaged

OTTAWA, Feb. 7, 2017 /PRNewswire/ - Halogen Software (TSX: HGN) announced today that Mission Rock Residential is using the Halogen Performance™ solution to help retain top talent and improve communication between managers and employees. The Denver-based property management firm has adopted ongoing performance management practices – such as regular performance check-ins – to ensure employees understand the impact they have on organizational success.

"There is a lot of turnover in the property management industry and we wanted to change that for our organization," explains Brice Wheeler, Director of Human Resources at Mission Rock Residential. "We realized the annual performance management process we had in place wasn't meeting our business needs, nor was it helping us give employees the timely feedback and recognition they deserve."

Founded in 2012, Mission Rock Residential manages properties from Washington to Georgia and employees are frequently transferred to property sites across the United States to help oversee various projects. With Mission Rock's annual performance review process, these frequent employee transfers posed a challenge when it came providing employees timely insight into how their work matters to the business.

"We needed a performance management solution that would improve organizational alignment and simplify how managers and employees engage in performance conversations," says Wheeler. "We selected Halogen because the system enables collaboration between managers and employees so they can easily track goals, and discuss feedback and development opportunities with their manager."

According to Wheeler, the solution has helped to improve communication between managers and direct reports, many of whom work at different property sites.

"Instead of being bogged down by process, our managers and employees can focus on the things that will move our business and our people forward," adds Wheeler. "It's had a direct impact on employee engagement and retention – our people know their work makes a difference and that we value their contribution."
