GOLDEN, Colo., April 3, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- HomeAdvisor, an IAC (NASDAQ: IAC) company and the operator of the largest home services marketplace across the globe, today unveiled a new national advertising campaign, "Just Ask HomeAdvisor."  The campaign is part of a $100 million advertising investment to educate consumers on HomeAdvisor's platform for matching homeowners with trusted home professionals and displace HomeAdvisor's biggest competitor: well-meaning neighbors.

"Ninety percent of project referrals are word-of-mouth, yet the majority of homeowners consistently tells us they want background checks and scheduling – features only HomeAdvisor provides," said Chris Terrill, CEO, HomeAdvisor. "HomeAdvisor is built to do what neighbors and friends can't, and this campaign exposes the shortfalls of the status quo and demonstrates a better way."

The TV spots feature slice-of-life vignettes between neighbors, in which one asks the other for a home services professional referral. Once the neighbor agrees to help, the interaction changes course as the request turns into a barrage of over-the-top demands, highlighting the takeaway message: "You can't expect your neighbor to do everything HomeAdvisor can."

"HomeAdvisor is the digital alternative to word of mouth for quickly and easily discovering and hiring a trusted professional," continued Terrill. "This year will truly be our tipping point — the point at which we begin to see the offline word of mouth market materially move online."

HomeAdvisor worked with Boulder-based agency EVB to produce the spots. The TV ads will run in :30-second formats on broadcast and cable networks, including ABC, NBC, HGTV, TNT and TBS.
