Cempra is a clinical-stage pharmaceutical company that focuses on developing antibiotics to meet medical needs in the treatment of bacterial infectious diseases in North America.

According to the complaint, throughout the Class Period defendants issued false and misleading statements to investors and failed to disclose that: (1) one of Cempra's lead product candidate, solithromycin, posed considerable safety risks for hepatotoxicity; and (2) as a result of the foregoing, Cempra's public statements were materially false and misleading at all relevant times. When the factual information became known, the complaint claims that investors suffered damages.
