FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla., May 18, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- AutoNation, Inc. (NYSE: AN), America's largest automotive retailer, is celebrating a record-breaking 11 million vehicles sold.  AutoNation is the first and only retailer in the history of the automotive industry to reach this milestone.  To celebrate this momentous occasion, AutoNation will donate 4 Chrysler ProMaster Passenger vans to community partners who are on the front lines in the fight against cancer.

Recognizing the impact that cancer has on its customers and associates, in 2013, AutoNation focused all charitable efforts to support cancer-related organizations. Today, AutoNation has committed and raised nearly $11 million to fight cancer in communities coast to coast. Recently the company was named one of the country's top 100 Corporate Citizens by Forbes Magazine and Just Capital due to its commitment to community well-being and its fight against cancer.

The celebration begins in Tampa on May 19th with the donation of a Chrysler ProMaster Passenger Van to Moffitt Cancer Center.  Moffitt is No. 6 on U.S. News & World Report's Best Hospitals for Cancer ranking and the only National Cancer Institute designated Comprehensive Cancer Center based in Florida. AutoNation will continue the celebration throughout the month with vehicle donations to the Nevada Children's Cancer Fund in Las Vegas, Brent's Place in Denver and the American Cancer Society Road to Recovery in South Florida.

In addition to the charitable donations, AutoNation will also express its gratitude to those who made this momentous occasion possible, its customers. In 11 markets from coast to coast, the company will surprise 11 customers by ripping up their contracts and handing them the keys to their vehicles, payment free.  AutoNation Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Mike Jackson said, "The extraordinary accomplishment of being the first automotive company to sell 11 million vehicles is an opportunity to show our appreciation to those who work hard every day in the fight against cancer and to our customers who have made this historic moment possible."
