Founded in 1992, the Southern Cattle Company has expanded from a small herd of cattle and an original 400 acres to over 14,000 acres in the Florida Panhandle. The Charolais herd was the original pure bred herd followed by the addition of an Angus herd in 1995.  In 2008, the company included the Brangus breed to the lineup. Southern Cattle now has the largest herd of Brinks-based genetics in the Southeast. In 2009, the Beefmaster herd was added to the Southern Cattle program. With these four breeds, Southern Cattle has been assisting commercial cattlemen in reaching their profitability goals. The company operates state-of-the art facilities, including an Embryo Transfer Facility.  Additionally, the professional staff at Southern is well versed on the regulations for exporting embryos out of the United States and routinely works with customers in many foreign countries. The company has partnered with the University of Florida to research feed efficiency in their GrowSafe facility adjoining Southern Cattle's ranch.  The company also has about 1500 acres dedicated to the row crop production of feedstock for the resident bulls, heifers and creep feed calves.

The Brangus breed up program at Southern Cattle Company is a blend of truly the most elite genetics available in the Angus and Brahman breeds. The Southern Angus herd ranks in the top 10 Angus herds in the United States, with emphasis placed on such economically important traits as feed efficiency, carcass merit, growth, and performance. By taking those foundation genetics and crossing them to the best of the Brahman breed, a truly great breed is being developed.
