Gruß an Dich Nase!
White Pine and Max Internet Communications Partner to Develop Affordable, High Performance Desktop Videoconferencing Solutions
LAS VEGAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 16, 1999--
CU-SeeMe to Be Bundled with MAX i.c.Live 3600 Processor Card for
Superior Audio and Video Performance
White Pine Software, Inc. (NASDAQ: WPNE), a leading provider of multimedia conferencing applications for the Internet and intranets, and MAX Internet Communications Inc. (OTC BB:MXIP - news), a provider of solutions for accelerated video communications over the Internet, today announced that the two companies have entered into a joint development and distribution agreement to provide new low-cost, high performance solutions for desktop-based videoconferencing. White Pine has agreed to develop its core CU-SeeMe(R) videochat client technology to interoperate with the MAX i.c.Live 3600(TM), a PC Internet Media Processor card which accelerates the processing of live, synchronized audio and video. Interoperability will be demonstrated throughout the week at Comdex in Las Vegas in MAX Internet Communications' booth no. L3545.
"These two Internet technologies complement each other and provide a superior experience for the end user, whether that person is within a corporation, working from a home office, or a consumer looking for a high-performance solution," said Forrest Milkowski, vice president of strategic partnering for White Pine Software. "A partnership with MAX Internet allows us to bring the quality of CU-SeeMe in line with hardware-based videoconferencing solutions, while maintaining the unique feature set that CU-SeeMe has. This relationship positions White Pine to be better equipped to address the growing demand for affordable, high-performance videoconferencing in the enterprise."
The MAX i.c.Live card reserves CPU resources by off-loading the processing that happens in a live videoconference from the computer to the card. The version of CU-SeeMe that is interoperable with MAX i.c.Live 3600 is in beta now, demonstrating near TV-quality performance (24 frames per second). A future version of CU-SeeMe will offer full-motion video (30 frames per second) with the MAX i.c.Live card. MAX Internet Communications will bundle this specialized version of CU-SeeMe with its Internet Media Processor card. White Pine is also working on interoperability with the MAX i.c.Live card and its recently announced CU-SeeMe Web client.
"This technology relationship between White Pine and MAX Internet offers the end user better video functionality in a complete communications solution," said Lawrence R. Biggs, Jr., CEO of MAX Internet Communications. "Together with CU-SeeMe, the MAX i.c.Live can demonstrate the true power of its Internet Media Processor by optimizing single session conferencing and enhancing multi-session communications."
