CyberWorks said it suspended trading pending a statement clarifying an earlier announcement that it was reviewing the possibility of investing in Cable & Wireless HKT and had hired investment bank Warburg Dillon Read to advise it.

Cable & Wireless HKT said that it hadn't been approached by CyberWorks, and had asked that trading in its stock be halted to prevent the development of an ''uninformed'' market for its shares before CyberWorks clarifies its plans.

In Singapore, Pacific Century Regional Development Ltd, CyberWorks' parent company, also suspended trading, pending an announcement of a ''substantial price-sensitive transaction,'' by CyberWorks.
