BP ausreichendes finanzielles Polster
New York (aktiencheck.de AG) - Mark C. Fletcher, Analyst der Citigroup, stuft die Aktie von BP (ISIN GB0007980591/ WKN 850517) unverändert mit "buy" ein.
Die Installation einer neuen Absaugglocke repräsentiere einen wichtigen Schritt bei der Rehabilitation der Aktie. Der Fokus dürfte sich nun auf die Regulierung der Schäden verlagern. Die Summe der Strafen und Zahlungsverpflichtungen die BP obliegen würden sei entscheidend, da diese steuerlich nicht abzugsfähig sei.
Der Markt berücksichtige derzeit Strafzahlungen am oberen Ende der Erwartungen. BP bleibe jedoch in einer guten finanziellen Verfassung und sei ausreichend liquide, um die Konsequenzen der Ölkatastrophe tragen zu können. Am Kursziel von 590 Pence werde festgehalten.

A leak in a line connected to one of the valves in a capping device is the latest setback for the British company, which could face being barred from getting new U.S. offshore oil and gas exploration leases for up to seven years.
The group, which is in lawmakers' crosshairs over the largest offshore oil spill in U.S. history, also confirmed on Thursday that it had lobbied the UK government over a prisoner transfer agreement with Libya in late 2007. In August 2009, the UK released a Libyan convicted of blowing up a U.S. jet, provoking an angry American reaction.
The spill started after an explosion at a rig on April 20 ruptured an undersea well and killed 11 workers, and has soiled hundreds of miles of shoreline and shut down about a third of Gulf fisheries.
BP installed a capping device on the well on Monday and started shutting a sequence of valves after getting approval from the U.S. government, which had delayed the plan by 24 hours on fears the process could irreparably damage the well.
'The actual well test hasn't got under way yet. When we were doing the final checks and tests we spotted a small leak in a choke line so we're repairing that before the test itself gets under way,' said a BP spokesman"...

Die in der Nacht zum Donnerstag begonnene Belastungsprobe für die Abdichtung des ramponierten Bohrlochs sei abgebrochen worden, berichtete der US- Sender CNN.
Bevor der Test fortgesetzt werden könne, müsse die undichte Stelle geschlossen werden, sagte ein Sprecher von BP. Es sei derzeit nicht abzusehen, wann dies der Fall sein werde. Knapp drei Monate nach Beginn der verheerenden Umweltkatastrophe ist damit wieder ein Versuch des Unternehmens vorerst gescheitert, das unablässig ausströmende
Öl endlich einzudämmen.
Der von vorneherein als heikel eingeschätzte Test begann mit einem Tag Verspätung. Die Prozedur war zunächst verschoben worden, weil befürchtet
wurde, der entstehende Druck könne zu noch größeren Schäden führen. Die US-Regierung hatte dem Unternehmen dann die Weisung erteilt, in der Nacht zum Donnerstag (MESZ) mit dem
Belastungstest für eine neue Abdichtung zu beginnen.
In einem ersten Schritt wurde in der vergangenen Nacht zunächst eine von mehreren Öffnungen des Zylinders geschlossen, teilte BP- Manager Kent
Wells mit. Dann sollten eigentlich nach und nach weitere Ventile und Zuleitungen geschlossen werden. Alle sechs Stunden wollten Experten dann den Druck messen, um den Erfolg des Vorgehens zu
überprüfen.
Der Stopp bei der Testphase des neuen, 68 Tonnen schweren Zylinders über dem Bohrloch ist die Fortsetzung einer Serie von Verzögerungen und Misserfolgen. Wann immer BP verschiedene Kappen
oder Absaugsysteme installierte, Schäden an der Quelle reparieren oder das Leck verstopfen wollte, brauchte der Konzern länger als geplant. Entweder machten den Arbeitern technische Probleme oder die geringe Erfahrung in solch großer Tiefe einen Strich durch die Rechnung - oder das Wetter spielte nicht mit, etwa als Ausläufer des Hurrikans "Alex" den Golf von Mexiko aufwühlten.
Doch selbst wenn die Vorrichtung funktioniert, wäre sie nur eine vorübergehende Lösung. Vollständig
verschließen sollen die Quelle
Entlastungsbohrungen mehrere Kilometer unter dem Meeresboden. Damit wird aber frühestens Ende Juli oder Anfang August gerechnet. Unterdessen rechnet man in Taiwan damit, dass am kommenden Wochenende die Entscheidung über
den Einsatz des Supertankers "A Whale" (Ein Wal) fallen könnte. Die jüngsten Einsatztests des Schiffes seien positiv verlaufen. Allerdings sei jetzt
schon so lange Öl ins Meer gelaufen, dass es immer problematischer werde, die schmutzige Brühe aufzusaugen.
Die "A Whale" soll täglich knapp 80 Millionen Liter verdrecktes Wasser aufnehmen und es vom Öl trennen können. Der Tanker wurde noch nie unter
realen Bedingungen getestet. Küstengemeinden von Louisiana bis Florida macht der mögliche Schiffseinsatz Hoffnung, dass ihre Strände dann
doch nicht vollends ruiniert werden.

Was ist also bitte so falsch daran, zeitnah alle Informationen - seien sie positiv oder negativ - hier einzustellen? Auch ich habe aus meinen Quellen, die hauptsächlich aus Email-Updates von BP selber stammen, beide Richtungen hier kundgetan.

zustimmen. Auch wenn Teras Post #1985 nicht so ganz eindeutig war! Wir sollten uns darauf beschränken hier Fakten und Neuigkeiten zu posten. Von mir aus auch persönliche Prognosen zum weiteren Verlauf der Aktie. Schließlich hat jeder ein Interesse daran, dass BP Erfolg hat! Ob nun im Sinne der Umwelt oder "persönlicher" Interessen ;-) sei dahin gestellt. Also in diesem Sinne, auf ein freundliches Miteinander und den Erfolg BP´s.

BP And Verenium Announce Pivotal Biofuels Agreement
BP to acquire Verenium's cellulosic biofuels business, including Jennings, San Diego facilities.
Verenium to receive $98.3 million and retain its commercial enzyme business including validated technology platform to apply to all business segments including biofuels.
BP and Verenium Corporation (NASDAQ: VRNM) today announced an agreement for BP Biofuels North America to acquire Verenium's cellulosic biofuels business, including the Company's facilities in Jennings, LA and San Diego, CA for $98.3 million. Verenium will retain its commercial enzyme business, including its biofuels enzymes products and have the right to develop its own lignocellulosic enzyme program. Verenium will also retain select R&D capabilities, as well as rights to access select biofuels technology developed by BP using the technology it is acquiring from Verenium through this agreement.
"We are very pleased that our strategic development partnership with BP has successfully advanced our cellulosic ethanol technology to the cusp of commercialization," said Carlos A. Riva, President and Chief Executive Officer at Verenium. "We believe that BP is the right company to make the investment needed to carry this forward and expedite the commercialization of the technology."
"This agreement should give both companies the flexibility to pursue the growth opportunities in the respective businesses and achieve goals in the near-term. As a result of this transaction, Verenium will have the resources to grow our commercial enzyme business while maintaining strategic access to the emerging cellulosic ethanol market in a manner that better fits our resources," added Riva.
"This acquisition demonstrates BP's intent to be a leader in the cellulosic biofuels industry in the U.S. and positions us as one of the few global companies with an integrated end-to-end capability, from R&D through commercialization to distribution and blending," said Philip New, CEO of BP Biofuels. "Our partnership with Verenium has been very fruitful, enabling the companies to develop a leading cellulosic ethanol technology package, driven forward by the skills and expertise of people from both companies. By acquiring Verenium's cellulosic biofuels technologies, BP Biofuels should be well placed to accelerate the delivery of low cost, low carbon, sustainable biofuels, at scale."
The major terms of this agreement include:
BP will acquire the following:
Jennings, LA facilities, including the pilot plant and the demonstration-scale facility as well as the San Diego, CA R&D facilities;
Cellulosic biofuels technology and related IP; and
Cellulosic enzyme technology and related IP.
In addition, BP would retain scientists and technologists needed to continue the biofuels development program.
Verenium will retain / receive the following:
The core commercial enzyme business, including the personnel and supporting technology required to develop the business, including for applications in the biofuels segment;
$98.3 million payment from BP;
$10.8 million in cash (currently restricted) to be released upon assignment of its lease for the San Diego facility to BP;
The ability to access select biofuels products developed by BP using the technology it is acquiring from Verenium; and
The ability to transition out of the San Diego, CA facility over the next two years.
BP will become the sole investor in Vercipia Biofuels, a 50-50 joint venture formed by BP and Verenium in February 2009, and will independently manage all of Vercipia's activities going forward. Similarly, Galaxy Biofuels, a 50-50 joint development company owned by BP and Verenium, will be owned 100% by BP. This transaction is expected to close in the third quarter of 2010.
UBS Investment Bank acted as financial advisor to Verenium in connection with the transaction. DLA Piper LLP (US) served as legal advisor to BP. Cooley LLP served as legal advisor to Verenium.

BP And Verenium Announce Pivotal Biofuels Agreement
BP to acquire Verenium's cellulosic biofuels business, including Jennings, San Diego facilities.
Verenium to receive $98.3 million and retain its commercial enzyme business including validated technology platform to apply to all business segments including biofuels.
BP and Verenium Corporation (NASDAQ: VRNM) today announced an agreement for BP Biofuels North America to acquire Verenium's cellulosic biofuels business, including the Company's facilities in Jennings, LA and San Diego, CA for $98.3 million. Verenium will retain its commercial enzyme business, including its biofuels enzymes products and have the right to develop its own lignocellulosic enzyme program. Verenium will also retain select R&D capabilities, as well as rights to access select biofuels technology developed by BP using the technology it is acquiring from Verenium through this agreement.

Riva, President and Chief Executive Officer at Verenium. "We believe that BP is the right company to make the investment needed to carry this forward and expedite the commercialization of the technology."
"This agreement should give both companies the flexibility to pursue the growth opportunities in the respective businesses and achieve goals in the near-term. As a result of this transaction, Verenium will have the resources to grow our commercial enzyme business while maintaining strategic access to the emerging cellulosic ethanol market in a manner that better fits our resources," added Riva.
"This acquisition demonstrates BP's intent to be a leader in the cellulosic biofuels industry in the U.S. and positions us as one of the few global companies with an integrated end-to-end capability, from R&D through commercialization to distribution and blending," said Philip New, CEO of BP Biofuels. "Our partnership with Verenium has been very fruitful, enabling the companies to develop a leading cellulosic ethanol technology package, driven forward by the skills and expertise of people from both companies. By acquiring Verenium's cellulosic biofuels technologies, BP Biofuels should be well placed to accelerate the delivery of low cost, low carbon, sustainable biofuels, at scale."
The major terms of this agreement include:
BP will acquire the following:
Jennings, LA facilities, including the pilot plant and the demonstration-scale facility as well as the San Diego, CA R&D facilities;
Cellulosic biofuels technology and related IP; and
Cellulosic enzyme technology and related IP.
In addition, BP would retain scientists and technologists needed to continue the biofuels development program.
Verenium will retain / receive the following:
The core commercial enzyme business, including the personnel and supporting technology required to develop the business, including for applications in the biofuels segment;
$98.3 million payment from BP;
$10.8 million in cash (currently restricted) to be released upon assignment of its lease for the San Diego facility to BP;
The ability to access select biofuels products developed by BP using the technology it is acquiring from Verenium; and
The ability to transition out of the San Diego, CA facility over the next two years.
BP will become the sole investor in Vercipia Biofuels, a 50-50 joint venture formed by BP and Verenium in February 2009, and will independently manage all of Vercipia's activities going forward. Similarly, Galaxy Biofuels, a 50-50 joint development company owned by BP and Verenium, will be owned 100% by BP. This transaction is expected to close in the third quarter of 2010.
UBS Investment Bank acted as financial advisor to Verenium in connection with the transaction. DLA Piper LLP (US) served as legal advisor to BP. Cooley LLP served as legal advisor to Verenium.
