PAPUA New Guinea Prime Minister Peter O’Neill and
his Cabinet Ministers are expected in Bougainville in February for two very important meetings.
Mr O’Neill announced yesterday that the National Government will hold its first ever Cabinet meeting in Arawa in February.
But before that, the Joint Supervisory Body meeting, the avenue that sees the
National Government and Bougainville leaders iron out issues pertaining to Bougainville moving forward, will be held in Buka.
The Joint Supervisory Board meeting was scheduled for in Buka on December 5, (three days before the Supreme Court Decision was handed down on the validity of the O’Neill-Namah Government) last year, while the NEC was scheduled for Arawa in January this year.
O’Neill yesterday said that plans are now being undertaken and all parties have been instructed to have ABG in preparation for the scheduled meeting in Arawa next month.
He said that he was looking forward to meeting with the landowners of the Panguna mine in Arawa and the people of Bougainville.
“NEC will be held in Arawa in February and I am very much looking forward to meeting with the landowners,” Mr O’Neill said.
“You see, the people of Bougainville are now much happier because there is a government in place that is helping them.”
O’Neill said that the National Government was more committed to Bougainville especially having released the K100 million in this year’s National Budget and pumping money for the Kokopau-Arawa highway including the repair and maintenance of roads in Buka town .

THE long awaited Council of Elders elections on Bougainville will now be on, after the writs were officially issued on Monday.
The issue of writs were signed by Local level Governments ABG minister Joseph Nopei and returning officer Sione Nash and witnessed by LLG CEO Herbert Kimai and Electoral boss on Bougainville Reitama Taravaru.
Also there to witness the signing were members of the media and other staff from the LLG and electoral offices in Buka.
“It is now very much appreciated when the long awaited COE elections have arrived, a lot of people have been complaining to the government about it,” Minister Nopei said.
He said the elections would also cover the remote atolls mainland of Bougainville and also will include the Arawa and Buka town councils.
“The election manager Reitama Taravaru will be conducting the polls and the nominations are open now and will close next Tuesday.” he said.

SIR MICHAEL SOMARE, who along with Peter O’Neill claims to be PNG's prime minister, has been ejected from parliament amid chaotic scenes.
Sir Michael and several of his supporters appeared in the chamber and called on the deputy speaker to give him a seat. He was brandishing last month's order by the Supreme Court for his reinstatement both as the prime minister and as a member of parliament.
But the deputy speaker said he stood by parliament's decision to eject Sir Michael and told him to leave the chamber. Supporters of Sir Michael's opponent Peter O'Neill shouted "stranger" and "get out" before parliament was adjourned.
Mr O'Neill later said that Sir Michael's appearance in parliament was the act of a desperate man and if he does it again the speaker could have him arrested.

How many times has the panguna mine been rumoured to re open??
I believe the investors are in and this is not a day traders stock, you cannot ramp this up withought concrete evidence. People are tired of it.
You know what they say about the boy who cried wolf!!!
I am an investor in this stock, but I am also a realist. With BOC one must understand that it will take time but the rewards will be great.
Daily updates on crappy bits of info will not generate exitement. The mine has been closed for more than 2 decades so posting world class investment etc etc won't make it move.
The pending upcoming elections will be a huge thing for BOC in my opinion. Perhaps the re election of O'Neill may bring about some meaningful changes to the minerals and mining and land legislations which sees a more equitable share of financial gain shared amongst everyone in a transparent manner.
Soveriegn wealth fund etc and a restoration of faith in the whole political/governmental system where the general public see promises kept will perhaps swing the momentum fully behind a united commitment to re opening panguna.
Whatever happens the one thing I am sure of is this.. Panguna will be one day re opened in my opinion. 5 years 10 years who knows?? but when it does the share price will rocket and as each year passes its value will rise keeping up with inflation at least as price of copper is always seen as an economic growth indicator and consumer confidence indicator.
It is a set and forget, like a long term deposit!!

das sind die bekannten Daten vom Juni 2008:
lt. WiWo befinden sich in der Oyu Tolgoi-Mine 71 Milliarden Pound Kupfer und 34 Millionen Unzen Gold! Die Goldresourcen allein haben also schon nen Wert von fast 30 Milliarden Dollar! Aber die Kupfervorkommen sprengen dann doch alle Dimensionen: 71 Milliarden Pound sind ca. 35 Milliarden Kilo Das wären dann ca. 35 Millionen Tonnen Kupfer! Die Tonne kostet ca. 8000 Dollar! Die Kupfervorkommen in der Mine haben somit einen Wert von ca. 280 Milliarden Dollar! Jahresproduktion von 440.000 Tonnen Kupfer und 320.000 Unzen Gold ist geplant. Das wären dann Einnahmen aus Kupfer von 3,5 Milliarden und aus Gold von 280 Millionen! Falls von den 4 Milliarden Einnahmen auch nur 1 Milliarde als Gewinn übrig bleibt, wäre bei nem KGV von 15 locker eine Marktkapitalisierung von 15 Milliarden sprich ein Kurs von ca. 40 Dollar gerechtfertigt!
Zu diesem Zeitpunkt (von Juni 2008 bis Dez. 2008) fiel Ivanhoe von 10 USD auf 2 USD,um dann von 2009 bis 2011 auf 29 USD zu steigen!! 
Da betrug die MKP voll verwässert 21 Mrd. USD!!!!!! Der Produktionsbeginn ist für Mitte 2013 geplant.
Vergleichen wir die Ressourcen mit mit BOC (ohne die 7 Lizenzen) kämen wir auf eine vergleichbare MKP von 3 Mrd.USD 2 1/2 Jahre vor Produktionsbeginn.
Also stehen irgendwann 1000% ins Haus!! Und durch die 7 Lizenzen würde BOC natürlich in ganz andere Dimensionen vorstoßen!!
daher der Kursverfall:
nach einer Parlamentswahl der Mongolei mit anschließenden Unruhen ist meiner Ansicht nach nun v.a. abzuwarten, wann eine neue Regierung welches Berbaugesetz verabschiedet, das voraussichtlich für die künftigen Aktivitäten von Ivanhoe in der Mongolei von entscheidender Bedeutung sein wird
Es war damals bei Ivanhoe Mines genauso wie jetzt bei BOC,und dann ging alles ganz schnell.

finde deinen Beitrag sehr anschaulich - und nachvollziehbar. Der Beitrag ist substanziell nüchtern begründet und unterscheidet sich wohltuend von den meisten Dummpushing-Postings oder dem bloßen Kopieren irgendwelcher PNG-News...
Die Ivanhoe habe ich auch immer als Vergleichskandidat im Hinterkopf! Beide Lizenzen haben eine ähnliche, außergewöhnliche Größe in Bezug auf die Rohstoffvorkommen. Beide Lizenzen haben einen finanziell potenten Hauptaktionär....
...und beide Lizenzen leiden unter der Korruption, Unfähigkeit und politischen Zerrissenheit der jeweiligen Landesregierung.
Nachdem O´Neil nun relativ sicher im Sattel sitzt und von Außen betrachtet einen angenehm nüchternen Politikstil vertritt, sehe ich auf der PNG-Seite erstmals seit Jahren eine Chance auf substanzielle Lösungsfortschritte....
Erfolgreiche News auf dem nächsten JSB-Meeting vorausgesetzt würden die letzten Charthöhen aus 2010 wohl relativ schnell fallen...
...aber bis dahin ist es noch ein weiter Weg. Und wenn PNG einen Schritt in die richtige Richtung macht, legt sich das korrupte und inkompetente ABG vielleicht selber einen Stein in den Weg.
In jedem Fall bleibt es spannend in 2012 - und die Chancen überwiegen die Risiken aktuell imho deutlich bei Kursen um 50-60 Cents....

Auf Boug. liegen die Tailings von 17 Jahren Pangunabetrieb u. warten nur darauf dem gleichen Prozedere unterzogen zu werden. ;-)))

Wie sehen die offiziellen Angabe zu der Größe der Tailings und dem Gehalt an Gold, Kupfer, Molybdän aus???
-> Ein substanzieller Cash Flow von Beginn an ist auch ein starkes Investitionsargument - da dies den Kapitalbedarf erheblich senkt...

Unfortunately, the only source of data is the BCL Annual Report and that is silent on these two issues. Questions were raised on Molybdenum but BCL said they have no data on it since it was a low value item uneconomic price in the period 1972-89.
