Idaho General Mines Plans Expanded Throughput Capacity at Mt. Hope; Anticipates Increased Project NPV
Thursday July 26, 3:00 pm ET

LAKEWOOD, Colo.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Idaho General Mines (AMEX:GMO - News) today announced plans to increase mill throughput capacity at Mt. Hope from 44,000 short tons per day (40,000 metric tons) to an average of approximately 60,000 short tons per day (54,000 metric tons), with actual annual throughput dependant on ore characteristics and other factors. The increased throughput capacity is expected to expand average annual molybdenum production during the first ten years of operations to 37 million pounds from the Company's prior estimates of approximately 31 million pounds. The expanded throughput rate and associated mine planning, capital and operating cost impacts are being incorporated into the Company's upcoming bankable feasibility study.

Commenting on the decision, Idaho General Mines' Chief Executive Officer, Bruce D. Hansen, said, "After evaluating recent grindability studies and the robustness of the initial plant design, we have determined that higher throughput capacity at Mt. Hope is both feasible and financially accretive, despite additional capital requirements. Higher throughput rates will enhance Molybdenum metal production as well as project Net Present Value (NPV). We continue to work with our engineering and permitting teams to deliver this world-class asset to market in mid-2010. Further, we continue to expect very robust demand growth for molybdenum. The Mt. Hope project will help fill what we expect will be an ongoing supply deficit."

The Mt. Hope mill was initially designed to expand throughput from 44,000tpd (40,000 metric tons) to 55,000tpd (50,000 metric tons) in year 12 through the addition of a third ball mill and further mining equipment. Recent grindability studies, however, indicated that approximately 60,000tpd (54,000 metric tons) could be initially achieved with two incrementally larger ball mills driven by more horsepower. Given the additional engineering required to accommodate the higher throughput capacity, the Company's bankable feasibility study is now expected to be released in late August. Over the next month, the mine plan will be re-optimized and line balanced to coincide with higher throughput levels. The Company expects an increase in project NPV from previous estimates of $840 million (calculated at $15 per pound molybdenum and a 10% discount rate) despite higher projected capital costs, due in part to the plant expansion, a larger initial truck fleet, and larger pre-stripping and waste segregation requirements.

Actually, if you go to the company's Website, www.igmines.com, and click on the August 30 Bankable Feasibility Study, you get a pretty comprehensive analysis of Mt. Hope's value to GMO (obviously, the other assets wld add further value, but Mt. Hope clearly comprises the bulk).

Assuming 72.52 mil. fully diluted shares o/s, a 10.0% after-tax discount rate, and the independent consultants' (CPM) projections for moly prices, you get an NPV of around $1.4 bil in total or $19.22 per share. However, CPM actually projects a fall in moly prices. If you believe moly prices will stay constant at today's levels (and some argue for higher, not lower, prices), then the total NPV rises to $3.5 bil., or over $48 per share. In either case, they represent substantial increases from the current stock price, and do not take into account Hall-Tonopah, etc.

General Moly Announces Strategic Relationship with ArcelorMittal
Monday November 19, 4:27 pm ET

LAKEWOOD, Colo.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--General Moly (AMEX:GMO - News) announced a strategic relationship with ArcelorMittal S.A., the world's largest steel producer. Elements of the relationship include:
An agreement to purchase, via private placement, 8.239 million General Moly common shares at $8.50 per share, generating approximately $70 million in proceeds. The funds will be primarily utilized in the development of General Moly's world-class Mt. Hope molybdenum project. The equity investment will result in ArcelorMittal owning approximately 12.6% of General Moly outstanding shares (10% of fully diluted shares) as of November 19, 2007 and inclusive of warrants to be issued to Coghill Capital Management as described below. The stock purchase is expected to close, subject to customary conditions within 30 days.
A letter of intent to enter into a long-term off-take agreement. This agreement, subject to final documentation, would allow for the supply of approximately 6.5 million pounds per year of molybdenum for five years, beginning once Mt. Hope commences production. The off-take agreement provides for a floor price significantly higher than estimated cash costs of production and is offset by a variable discount to spot moly prices above the floor.

Bruce D. Hansen, Chief Executive Officer of General Moly, said, “This relationship with ArcelorMittal represents a milestone in the evolution of the Company and a key strategic element in the Mt. Hope financing and development strategy. We are extremely pleased to work with ArcelorMittal with a win-win deal that helps General Moly advance the Mt. Hope project while giving ArcelorMittal access to production from this world-class project.”

The relationship with ArcelorMittal is a non-exclusive arrangement and the Company continues to examine other strategic relationship opportunities.

General Moly’s largest shareholder, Coghill Capital Management, was instrumental in arranging the relationship between the two companies, and, upon closing of the transaction, will be issued a warrant to purchase one million shares of General Moly common stock with an exercise price of $10.00 per share. The warrants will be exercisable once General Moly has received financing necessary for the commencement of commercial production at the Mt. Hope project and will expire one year afterwards.

General Moly, formerly Idaho General Mines, is a U.S.-based molybdenum mineral development, exploration and mining company listed on the American Stock Exchange under the symbol GMO. Our primary asset, the Mt. Hope project located in central Nevada, is considered one of the world's largest and highest grade molybdenum deposits. Combined with our second molybdenum property, the Hall-Tonopah project which is also located in central Nevada, our goal is to become the largest primary molybdenum producer by the middle of the next decade. persönlich am Steuer.

Moly miner intends to drop old name [Denver]
Mining company General Moly Inc. announced it is partnering with the world's largest steelmaker, ArcelorMittal S.A., in a deal predicted to generate $70 million toward General Moly's development of a major molybdenum mine in central Nevada.

ArcelorMittal, a Luxembourg company that appears on international exchanges as Mittal Steel NV, agreed to buy nearly 8.3 million shares of Lakewood-based General Moly (AMEX: GMO). That amounts to 12.7 percent of General Moly's outstanding shares, or 10 percent fully diluted, the company's announcement said.

"This relationship with ArcelorMittal represents a milestone in the evolution of the Company and a key strategic element in the Mount Hope financing and development strategy," General Moly's CEO Bruce Hansen said in a written statement.

General Moly's Mount Hope project aims to mine one of the world's largest, high-grade molybdenum deposits. Combining its nearby Hall-Tonopah project, General Moly said its goal with the central Nevada projects is to become the largest primary molybdenum producer.

The mining company's largest shareholder, Coghill Capital Management, played a major role in arranging the investment from ArcelorMittal. Once Mount Hope goes into production, Coghill will be issued a 1-year warrant to buy 1 million shares of General Moly at $10 a share. Its shares were trading at $10.40 per share at Friday's close.
