RADNOR, Pa., July 22, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Lincoln Financial Group (NYSE: LNC) announced today that it has launched a microsite in conjunction with "Lincoln's Legacy," a three-year initiative designed to educate children and adults on the historical relevance of President Abraham Lincoln, as well as the continued importance of freedom and opportunity to America's future. The microsite's domain is www.lincolnslegacy.lfg.com.

The company is launching Lincoln's Legacy this year to coincide with the 150th anniversary of the signing of the Emancipation Proclamation. The initiative culminates in 2015, the year that marks the adoption of the 150th anniversary of the 13th Amendment to the Constitution.

"Lincoln's Legacy encourages children, adults, families and communities to gather, share and celebrate stories that ultimately become footprints for generations to come," said Nancy Rogers, senior vice president and President of the Lincoln Financial Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Lincoln Financial Group. "We are honored to be developing a series of events and experiences that connect the past to the future, and our new microsite is designed to be the pipeline for an ongoing flow of inspiration."

The microsite also serves as the conduit by which people may upload their own oral history: a brief, videotaped interview where one person is interviewed by another about their life experiences.

"Oral histories give families and communities the opportunity to commemorate and pay homage to their experiences through storytelling," said Allison Green, senior vice president and Chief Diversity Officer for Lincoln Financial Group. "An entire section of the microsite details how to conduct your own oral history, complete with sample questions and other guidance. Ultimately, we plan to compile a number of these oral histories into an anthology for publication, the proceeds of which will be donated to charity. It is an exciting component of Lincoln's Legacy, and we are looking forward to reviewing as many submissions as possible."

Complete details on how to submit an oral history can be found at http://lincolnslegacyoralhistories.com/.
