JUPITER, Fla., Aug. 10, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- GelTech Solutions, Inc. (OTCPINK: GLTC) announced today that FireIce High Visibility Orange, the signature product of its Wildland Fire Division, has been actively used by more than ten state and federal wildland firefighting agencies so far this season to fight over 100 fires in the U.S. and Canada.  FireIce has been deployed in over 10 different types of aircraft for both initial attack, extended attack and large fire operations.  It has earned the praise of pilots, tanker base managers and wildland firefighters on the ground for its superior effectiveness, ease of use and environmental friendliness.  FireIce HVOF also weighs significantly less per mixed gallon than other commonly used chemicals, enhancing the safety of pilots and their aircraft.

With this continued success, FireIce is quickly becoming the  fire chemical of choice by wildland fire industry agencies as they recognize the performance and cost advantages of using FireIce over traditional fire-fighting chemicals.

"We are very pleased with the growth and adoption of FireIce in the wildland fire industry and have been fortunate to work with some outstanding agencies domestically and internationally," stated Matt Struzziero, GelTech's director of sales and operations. "The GelTech Wildland team is on the ground working with these agencies to ensure successful implementation of FireIce into their programs, which will ultimately help protect public and private lands, save agency fiscal resources, and better provide for the safety of the brave pilots and firefighters."

About FireIce

FireIce is an advanced, non-toxic, non-corrosive polymer that when hydrated produces a water-based fire retardant and suppressant. The eco-friendly properties of FireIce are especially important in sensitive and protected ecosystems, including that of the Sage Grouse.  FireIce weighs significantly less than other commonly used chemicals, enhancing the safety of pilots and their aircraft. With its superior suppression and ability to create a firebreak to protect assets and property, FireIce is the most versatile product on the market today.
