Conference Call Monday, March 6, to discuss Ivanhoe Energy's Heavy-to-Light Oil process

 BAKERSFIELD, CALIFORNIA --- Ivanhoe Energy Inc. (NASDAQ: IVAN and TSX: IE, IE.U) will host a telephone conference call for investors and analysts today, Monday, March 6, at 4:00 p.m. EST (1:00 p.m. PST).

A technical update will be provided on the most recent performance testing of California heavy oil at the company's Commercial Demonstration Facility in Southern California, which is showcasing Ivanhoe's revolutionary heavy-oil upgrading technology (HTL).

Ivanhoe Energy performs successful run on heaviest fraction of California heavy oil (IVAN) 2.87 : IVAN announces its heavy oil upgrading commercial demonstration facility in California has completed a product run in which the CDF successfully upgraded vacuum tower bottoms derived from California heavy oil. In this latest test, California heavy oil V.T.B.s, with a very high viscosity (approximately 300,000 centipoise at 140 degrees F), were converted to a low viscosity product (1300 centipoise at the same temperature) - a reduction in viscosity of over 99%.
