ST. LOUIS, March 20, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Spectrum Brands, Inc. – Pet, Home & Garden Division employees rolled up their sleeves to give back to the community recently during a team-building exercise at the company's weeklong National Sales & Marketing Meeting at St. Louis Union Station. More than 250 employees from across the country raced to prepare 62,000 meals for St. Louis-area families in only 45 minutes.

As part of a Feed the Funnel program with The Pack Shack, an organization that works with groups and businesses across the country to organize meal-packing events to benefit their own communities, teams formed stations to assemble, weigh, seal and box nutritious, shelf-stable food. All of the meals will be distributed locally through the St. Louis Area Foodbank to help feed local families in need.

"Our Pet, Home & Garden Division is located right here in St. Louis," said Randy Lewis, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Spectrum Brands, Inc. – Pet, Home & Garden Division. "Employees really valued the opportunity to spend time together and benefit such a great local cause."

The St. Louis Area Foodbank is the largest food assistance provider in the bi-state region. It enables more than 500 agencies, homeless shelters and soup kitchens to serve 3 million meals per month.

The Pack Shack Feed the Funnel parties are designed to provide meals and promote awareness about hunger nationwide in a fun environment for groups. The Spectrum Brands employees who participated were encouraged to take their enthusiasm back home and volunteer in their own communities.
