ARMSTRONG, Iowa, May 9, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Art's Way Manufacturing Co., Inc. (NASDAQ: ARTW), announces its wholly-owned subsidiary, Art's Way Scientific, Inc. (www.buildingsforscience.com), was awarded a 2016 Award of Distinction by the Modular Building Institute (MBI), at the annual World of Modular Conference in San Diego, California last month.

The award winning modular Calf Intensive Care Nursery and Clinic was designed, manufactured and installed for Daisy Farms, Paris, Texas. With competition in over 30 categories, MBI's contest is the commercial modular industry's premier awards program for it members, which includes manufacturers, dealers, product and service providers. Each entry is reviewed by an impartial panel of industry and non-industry construction and code experts, architects and engineers, and marketing professionals.  Building entries are judged on architectural excellence, technical innovation & sustainability, and cost effectiveness, including energy efficiency, and calendar days to complete.

"This project is a great example of the evolution of our product offering," said Dan Palmer, President of Art's Way Scientific. "The Daisy Farms project, and recent orders from GBI, Nutriquest, and a confidential contract research laboratory client, worth over $1,750,000, is a combination of our laboratory animal research experience and our long standing leadership of agricultural calf and swine nursery buildings.  We can meet requirements outlined in The Guide for the Care and Use of Agricultural Animals in Research and Teaching (Ag Guide) using simpler environmental controls and equipment than our high containment BSL3 facilities. This gives users the choice in levels of containment and animal environment that best match their research needs."

Dr. Dana Beckler, DVM, MS, the founder of Gut Bugs, Inc. (GBI) reports that, "Modular research buildings from Art's-Way Scientific have allowed us to move quickly and be competitive in the contract agricultural research business.  These buildings can be built to any specific requirements, are self-contained and made of high quality components.  From designing the building, to on-site installation, the people at Art's-Way Scientific are knowledgeable, experienced and great to work with."

Marc McConnell, Chairman of the Board, said, "We are honored to have received the Award of Distinction from the modular building institute and pleased to be finding new market segments for our modular building product line. This supports our company wide commitment to design and construct modular building products that fit our clients' needs, at the right price and with customer service that exceeds expectations."
