BUENOS AIRES, Argentina, Feb. 20, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Arcos Dorados Holdings Inc. (NYSE: ARCO) ("Arcos Dorados"), Latin America's largest restaurant chain and the world's largest McDonald's franchisee, is building World Cup  excitement and launching the first of many in-store promotions aimed at soccer fans of all ages: "Champion" glasses commemorating the five World Cups won by host country Brazil.

As a leading sponsor and official restaurant of the 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil™, McDonald's restaurants throughout Brazil will be joining fans in showing their pride and devotion to the national sport well before the first whistle blows in Brazil. The tournament takes place from June 12 until July 13.

Customers who purchase an Extra Value Meal (sandwich, side and drink) with a McFlurry will receive one "Champion Glass" commemorating a past Brazilian World Cup victory. Six glasses have been created – five inspired by past World Cup championships won by Brazil and one specially designed for the 2014 World Cup Brazil™. Customers will have a choice of: Gray – 1958 World Cup; Red – 1962 World Cup; Lilac – 1970 World Cup; Light Green – 1994 World Cup; Blue – 2002 World Cup; and Dark Green for the 2014 World Cup Brazil™. The promotion lasts until March 5.

"In the months leading up to the big event, McDonald's will be showcasing its pride in the game and its long-standing partnership with the FIFA World Cup through innovative customer promotions and engagement opportunities," said Jose Valledor, Arcos Dorados Brazil President. "Along with the fans, we are looking forward to welcoming the world to Brazil with great hospitality and great food."

During the World Cup, McDonald's will also be giving more than 1,400 children ages 6 – 10 years the chance to enter the stadium on match days with their soccer hero. Since it began more than 12 years ago, the Player Escort program has given nearly 4,000 children from around the world the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to walk onto the field, holding hands with their favorite soccer players and teams. Online registrations for this year's Player Escort program are open and available to children in 60 countries.
