LogicaCMG announced the successful deployment of its Multimedia Messaging Service Centre (MMSC) with Airtel, the leading operator in the Indian mobile telecoms market. The solution has enabled Airtel to launch its MMS services to 3 million subscribers across India during February 2003, allowing consumers to send content-rich Multimedia Messages with photos, audio and video clips.

 

Based on open standards, the scalable architecture of LogicaCMG's MMSC will allow Airtel to meet the capacity, performance, and reliability requirements necessary to support the introduction and growth of premium MMS services.

Masala messaging allows AirTel's customers to send MMS messages to MMS and Legacy handsets. The Masala Messaging Portal also offers rich content available for downloading greeting cards, screen savers and wallpapers. Customer handsets are provisioned over the air and this has led to appreciable take off within few days of launch.
