Lincoln Financial Group Honors Former Owner, President Of The Smith Companies With Its 'American Award'

RADNOR, Pa., July 19, 2013

Smith was former owner and president of the Smith Companies, LTD., and founding member and two-time president of Capitas Financial.

The American Award acknowledges financial services professionals who combine business performance excellence, outstanding community service and commitment to family. The award was presented by Lincoln Financial Group Distribution President Will Fuller.

"Lincoln is proud to honor Charlie Smith's memory," said Fuller. "Those fortunate enough to have known and worked with Charlie recall not only his natural warmth and leadership, but also his innate desire to serve the greater community. We hope to keep his legacy alive through this recognition because it is a reflection of the value Lincoln places on helping others and symbolizes the highest standards of our industry," he added.

Smith was a member of the Association for Advanced Life Underwriting and the National Association of Independent Life Brokerage Agencies. In addition to his professional dedication, he was active in the Boston community, serving as Chairman of the Friends of Charlesgate, Back Bay Neighborhood Association, a non-profit organization dedicated to combating community deterioration. Smith also was an advocate of Crossroads for Kids, an organization committed to inspiring at-risk youth to become members of the next generation of diverse young leaders in Boston and Massachusetts.

Smith passed away on June 16, 2012.
