PR Newswire

CAPE TOWN, South Africa, Jan. 16, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Leatt Corporation (OTCQB: LEAT), a global developer, marketer and distributor of personal protective equipment for all forms of sports, including extreme motor sports, and whose products include the flagship Leatt-Brace®, a neck brace system designed to help prevent potentially devastating injuries to the cervical spine (neck) for helmeted sports, announced today that its Chest Protector Leatt PRO Lite has been named a Product of the Year by Transworld Motocross magazine ("Transworld"). The Leatt chest protector was the only protective product chosen by Transworld for the prestigious award.

"We've crash tested the PRO Lite numerous times and can attest to the fact that it disperses impact forces much, much better than a traditionally built protector," noted the magazine in announcing the award. "Without a doubt, this is the most protective, good-looking chest protector available."

Weighing only 2.2 pounds (995 grams), the PRO Lite is Leatt's first-class chest protector.  It can be used over or under a jersey and has been designed to integrate perfectly with or without an accompanying Leatt neck brace. Its BraceOn™ elastic strap system attaches to the Leatt brace, yet provides independent movement of body, brace and chest protector.

The PRO Lite's ability to absorb more impact than traditional protectors has also placed it at the two highest levels of CE impact safety standards for motorcyclists' protective clothing, the EN 1621-2 and prEN 1621-3 standards, for front and rear protection against mechanical impact.

"We are very pleased with the Transworld award, which we believe validates the work of our entire team," said Dr. Christopher Leatt, Leatt Chairman and head of Research and Development. "We believe that this award also underscores the value of the Leatt brand in the world of motocross, as well as in other racing sports. We have built Leatt by creating what we believe to be the most innovative, most advanced and most protective products in the racing industry and we are very proud to be recognized for our efforts in this endeavor."
