For Immediate Release

SOUTHAMPTON, PA, USA, November 29, 2016 - Environmental Tectonics Corporation's (OTC Pink: ETCC) ("ETC" or the "Company") Environmental Testing and Simulation Systems business unit today announced the award of three (3) chamber projects totaling $4.5 million for customers both in the United States and abroad.  The equipment to be delivered includes an extreme temperature Environmental Chamber with specialized test profile controls and data acquisition system, a full Drive-In Vehicle Test Chamber to conduct vehicle emissions testing for a Chinese automobile manufacturer, and various chamber conditioning packages for a Japanese automobile manufacturer.  The chambers and conditioning equipment will be used to evaluate the vehicle air conditioning systems, engine performance, fuel economy, exhaust emissions as well as many other aspects of vehicle design, all while on a chassis dynamometer.

ETC has been designing and manufacturing environmental testing and simulation equipment for the automotive and heating, ventilation, and air condition ("HVAC") industries for over four decades.  Equipment designed specifically for the automotive industry includes:

  • Drive-In Vehicle Test Chambers
  • Combustion Air Supply Systems
  • Low Temperature Process Chillers & Air Handlers
  • A/C Systems & Component Test Benches
  • Compressor, Surface Coil, Condenser & Radiator Calorimeters
  • Psychometric & Balanced Ambient Test Chambers
  • Altitude Simulation Systems for Engine Emissions & Performance R&D

New vehicle design and performance verification requires extensive testing under extreme environmental conditions.  A climatic Drive-In Vehicle Test Chamber provides such an environment and is equipped with a chassis dynamometer, temperature and humidity controls, solar and wind speed simulation, and heated road simulation, which creates conditions from extremely cold to extremely hot and humid in just a few hours; thus, allowing testing to be conducted 24 hours a day and eliminating the need to physically drive the vehicle to places with extreme weather to conduct testing.

ETC's chambers create very precise test conditions; thus, generating very accurate and repeatable results.  ETC's climatic Drive-In Vehicle Test Chambers range in size from small passenger vehicles to large heavy duty trucks.  The typical chamber design has a temperature range -40°F to 160°F with relative humidity of 20% to 95%.  The chambers surround either a 2-wheel or 4-wheel drive chassis dynamometer, are equipped with the latest and most accurate sensors, programmable logic controller ("PLC") systems, data acquisition systems, and are fully automated.
