TORONTO, June 1, 2017 /CNW/ - Instead of coming to work today, employees of Corby Spirit and Wine will be spending the day volunteering within their own communities across Canada in a collective effort to give back to the neighbourhoods where they live and work. These events are part of the seventh annual Responsib'All Day, which sees Corby's employees act as frontline ambassadors for its Sustainability and Responsibility (S&R) commitments: promoting responsible drinking, empowering employees, protecting our planet, and developing our communities.

The team at Corby is joined by the 18,500 global employees of its majority shareholder, Pernod Ricard, in the Group's international goal of spreading conviviality around the world. Under the company's S&R motto of "Let's Live Together, Better", employees in 80+ countries will collectively support their local communities by creating or enhancing places where people come to gather.

"Responsibility and Sustainability have always been an important part of Corby's DNA, and this day of action allows us to further demonstrate our commitment to the communities of our employees, our customers, and our consumers," says Valerie Brive-Turtle, Director of Communications, PR and S&R. "I'm immensely proud of our employees across Canada today, who are rolling up their sleeves and working to make their neighbourhoods a better place."

Corby's head office in Toronto is revisiting the Waterfront Neighbourhood Centre for Responsib'All Day, building on the work its employees started last year at this vital facility in the heart of the city's fastest growing community. Celebrating the completion of its 25th anniversary year this June, the community centre supports thousands of local individuals, families, at-risk youth and seniors. Employees will help the facility with improvements to its program spaces including gardening in the Community Connect Food Gardens, building furniture and outdoor equipment, and other painting and assembling projects.

"We are excited to welcome Corby employees to our neighbourhood centre to conclude our 25th anniversary celebration year," notes Leona Rodall, WNC Executive Director. "Our community cherishes our public building which is open 7 days a week, providing over 95,000 hours of program delivery every year. With the fantastic support on Responsib'All Day, Corby employees will be revitalizing well used community gathering spaces that support our vital neighbourhood programs and services, a fitting conclusion to a celebratory year!"

Similar community-focused Responsib'All Day events will be taking place in 10 other cities across Canada: Halifax, NS; Point Parlee, NB; Charlottetown, PEI; St. John's, NL; Frelighsburg, QC; Windsor, ON; Winnipeg, MB; Saskatoon, SK; Calgary, AB; and Vancouver, BC. Employees across the country will take part in initiatives to help improve green spaces, community centres, and public parks in their region.

"As an organization with nearly 160 years of history in Canada, we're so proud to give back to the communities in which our business, and our employees, are so deeply rooted," says Patrick O'Driscoll, Corby's President and CEO. "Supporting our neighbours and contributing to our environment is important to all of us at Corby, and today we're working together from coast to coast to make a positive difference."
