MIAMI, Oct. 3, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- This weekend, the BURGER KING McLAMORESM Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Burger King Corporation and the BURGER KING® system, kicked-off of its 2016 in-restaurant Fall Fundraiser. The fall initiative benefits the Foundation's flagship BURGER KING Scholars program. This year's campaign offers Guests of participating BURGER KING® restaurants a delicious deal too sweet to ignore: the opportunity to provide financial assistance to deserving high school seniors in local communities while enjoying some of their favorite BURGER KING® restaurant menu items.

The chance to "help make a scholar" began on October 1, and continues through October 31, 2016.  During that time, Guests who donate a dollar will receive a booklet with six (6) coupons for free menu items, including: two (2) coupons for a soft serve cone or cup; two (2) coupons for chocolate chip cookies; one (1) coupon for a value-sized French fries or onion rings; and one (1) coupon for a small-sized frozen drink. Every dollar raised in restaurants will directly benefit the communities they serve, with scholarships awarded in the spring of 2017 through the Foundation's BURGER KINGSM Scholars program. This offer is available in participating BURGER KING® restaurants in the U.S., Canada and Puerto Rico.

"The Fall Fundraiser gives hope to deserving students by bringing them one step closer to a college education," said Jose Cil, BURGER KING® Brand President and President of the BURGER KING McLAMORESM Foundation. "With just 1 dollar, our valued Guests receive a delicious deal that provides students in their community a promising future."

Created in memory of BURGER KING® brand co-founder James "Jim" W. McLamore, the BURGER KINGSM Scholars program has awarded $28.3 million in scholarships to more than 26,800 high school students, BK® employees and their families across the U.S., Canada and Puerto Rico since its inception in 2000. The Foundation's flagship program was established to honor Jim McLamore's legacy and commitment to philanthropy and education.
