HOUSTON, Aug. 30, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- While the effects of Hurricane Harvey continue to impact the Houston region, Amegy Bank is committed to helping customers and the greater Houston community.  Amegy is taking many actions to ensure the safety of its employees and, specifically, to help ease the financial needs of its employees, customers and the community during this time. Examples of these actions include: having more than 25 Houston-area branches open for banking transactions today and, among other steps we are taking to support customers affected by the storm, temporarily waiving:

  • service charges on ATM transactions and cash advance fees on credit card and line of credit transactions;
  • late payment fees or penalties for early withdrawals from savings accounts; and
  • late fees for mortgage or consumer loans.

In the coming weeks, Amegy will be communicating more initiatives to provide flexibility for existing borrowers and thoughtful approaches to providing the new financings that will be required by consumers and businesses in the impacted areas.  Amegy Bank customers with specific needs or questions should not hesitate to call their banker or call 713-235-8810 for assistance in reaching a banker.

The bank has been "open for business" throughout the storm with mobile, online, and telephonic banking access. In today's world of banking, the vast majority of daily transactions can be executed this way, including balance transfers, balance inquiries, check deposits, and more. As water recedes and roads open, Amegy Bank will be opening more of its branches as it is safe to do so. An up-to-date list of open Amegy branches can be found at www.amegybank.com or by calling 713-235-8810.

"Our highest priority is ensuring the well-being of our employees and their families, continuing to serve our customers' banking needs, and helping our community with meaningful support," said Amegy Bank CEO Steve Stephens. "While much of the area continues to be impacted by the storm, we want to be a resource for people in our communities so they can begin the recovery process."

To assist with community recovery efforts, Amegy Bank and its senior executives will be making an $850,000 donation to the Hurricane Harvey United Way Relief Fund, which is focusing its efforts on helping with basic needs, like safety, shelter, food and mental health. Once the community is stabilized, the United Way will continue to focus on the long-term recovery efforts that extend for several years after a weather event like Hurricane Harvey.
