Managing Director appointment/Proposed entitlement issue
Integrated online and retail travel group Travelshop Limited announces that the former senior Ansett Australia sales and marketing executive Mr Glenn Robertson commences his appointment as its Managing Director on Monday, 26 June 2000.
Mr Robertson will join Travelshop from the senior position of General Manager Olympics with Ansett Australia, where he led the airline's Olympic 2000 Investment Program including the management of commercial programs with combined revenue of approximately $750 million.
Prior to his appointment as General Manager Olympics, Mr Robertson was Director-National Sales with Ansett and held a number of senior marketing/sales positions with the international beverage giant Cadbury-Schweppes.
Travelshop Director Mr Rob Nichevich said Mr Robertson brings an exceptional range of skills and talents to Travelshop and would play a key role in taking the Company's growth plans forward into the
"Travelshop has a very exciting future as it grows and develops using e-technology to supplement its existing business of retail outlets and telephone marketing through a National Call Centre", Mr Nichevich said.
The Company continues to upgrade its new state-of-the-art National Call Centre which has up to five times the capacity of its previous operation. The Call Centre is marketing products shown on the Channel
Nine TV series Getaway.
The Directors also wish to advise the market that they have cash on hand in excess of $5.65 million and they are considering an entitlement issue to provide additional funding for a proposed acquisition program. A final decision in these areas will be made after Mr Robertson commences his duties.
Travelshop is Australia's only fully integrated travel business operating retail outlets, a national call centre and an online operation through its popular travelshop.com.au site.
The Perth-based Company also has an alliance with the nation's largest retailer, Coles Myer Ltd, which will establish it as the exclusive travel provider on the colesmyer.com portal and give it access to CML's large retail database.
