Prophecy Power Generation (PPG) LLC has been working upon obtaining relevant licenses since 2010 in order to construct 600MW Power Plant in Murun soum’s territory of Khentii aimag and this project aims at ensuring the power supply of central and southern regions by constructing a power plant at the mouth of Chandgana mine, which has 1 billion tons of coal reserves, near Khavtgai coal deposit in Chandgana Tal.
The accomplishment of this project will not only bring benefits to Murun soum citizens in Khentii aimag but also contribute to the economic growth of Mongolia and increase the foreign investment and power supply. Murun soum government and citizens support this project and concluded long term cooperation agreement and in accordance with this it expands cooperation with PPG by announcing scholarship program in order to prepare domestic workforce to solve local development issues and for power plant operations, and investing in educational sector in order to create comfortable learning atmosphere for secondary school students.
As of today and per the information provided by PPG LLC to soum and local government, Chandgana Power Plant Project was included in the Concession List approved by the appendix to Government Resolution No. 317 in February 2014. In June 2014 the MoED (No.7/2055) announced open tender for concession projects, including Chandgana PP Project. In October 2014 MoED sent an official request inviting PPG to have direct negotiation to discuss Concession Agreement conditions for Chandgana PP based on Article 15 of the Concession Law. In April 2015 the Working Group to work on Concession Agreement was established.
Therefore, we are hereby [sending our request] asking for your support to expedite the further implementation of Chandgana PP project and make it actually happen.
